The action starts at
6pm on Friday with a concert featuring local & guest performers
in "The Stadium", adjacent to the Recreation Ground.
This will be the main concert venue with acts programmed all weekend
and will be set out concert style with seating for about 300.
There will be a small entry charge of $10 per day for this venue
- the remainder of the Festival is entirely FREE! Other concerts
will be held in the Aussie Cider "Village Marquee"located
amongst the stalls in the Festival Village area, while the Young
Performers Marquee will host the "Gen Y Folk" events
and there will also be some concerts in the Football Clubrooms.
This year the "blackboard concerts" will be held in
the Cafe Acoustica marquee at the rear of the Football Clubrooms.
Anyone wishing to perform at one of the blackboard concerts should
approach the person co-ordinating that event on the day. Time
slots for performance will be allocated as fairly as possible
on a "first come, first served" basis. You will also
be able to catch some of the performers giving cameo performances
at venues in the Town, including the popular Christina's on High
Street, the 3 Monkeys Cafe and Waverley Homestead.
On Saturday evening there
will be a feature concert in the Stadium to showcase the special
guests at this year's Festival - some of this year's feature acts
include: Damien Howard & The Ploughboys (fresh from their
tour of Europe & Scotland), Doug Ashdown (of "Winter
in America" fame), Dave de Hugard, Cloudstreet, Tom Richardson
(last year's favourite young performer), Spiral Dance (2009 Folk
Awards winners), Chloe & Jason Roweth (NSW) and Alan Johnston
(Scotland). Please check this page again in the near future for
more details of this year's featured acts.
This year's Festival
will once again have a big focus on youth and we'll be presenting
some of Australia's finest young folk performers, as well as hosting
two Young Talent Showcases and the "Gen Y Folk" events
in the "Young Performers Marquee" and of course, there
will be lots of children's entertainment as well.
Informal sessions will
be held all weekend in the "Session Bar" marquee, "Cafe
Acoustica" and hotels in the town. There will be family Bush
Dances on Saturday and Sunday in the Show Hall adjacent to the
Stadium. Other events, including the workshops, the bush poet's
event and instrument exhibition will be held in the Recreation
hall complex. There will also be lots of craft and food stalls,
children's entertainment and plenty of other action around the
Recreation Ground precinct and throughout the town itself.
