Y FOLK EVENTS
This part of the Festival is for
the new generation of folk performers, the 18-25 year olds, and
will offer opportunities to perform at concerts in the Youth Marquee,
workshops & sessions with peer age group musicians and the chance
for a promising young South Australian act to perform at the 2009
National Folk Festival in Canberra. One young SA perfomer will also
receive a scholarship to attend masterclasses at the National Folk

in a modern context to facilitate youth participation

*The Fiddle Chicks - Arranging music for 3 fiddles and female voices.
*Braemar – "Lochaber No More" theme concert
* Mike Jackson & Friends—Songs Grandma & Grandpa sang

| YOUNG
TALENT SHOWCASE
Now featuring 2 age groups: 8-12 year olds (primary school)
& 13-17 year olds (secondary school). If you can sing or play
a musical instrument and would like to take part in our Showcase
please fill out the Application
Form on
our website or register at the ‘Youth Marquee’ by 12.30pm
on Saturday (8-12yo) or Sunday (13-17yo). Limited to 12 performers
in each group. Each child will win a ’Gus Kruger Memorial
Medal’ and one child in each group will win the 'Dean Bird
Encouragement Award’.
WACKY BAND PLAYOFF
A zany, fun-filled event for the
12-17 year olds: Got some bits and pieces at home, at school or
college that could be glued, screwed, taped or nailed together and
transformed into your very own masterpiece? Ask
your Music teacher, your Technical Studies teacher, mum, dad, brother,
sister, auntie, uncle, granny or grandad to help you make a Wacky
instrument then join others – members of your family or friends
from school - to form a band.

Featuring Keith Preston’s traditional ‘Punch and Judy
Puppet Show’; Claire the Clown; Face Painting; Mike Jackson’s
‘Dr Knickerbocker’ Show and his Ukulele workshops for
kids and adults; Jack & Molly, Rachel Morgan presents a fiddle
workshop for children. |

SESSIONS
There will be lots of opportunities
for informal, acoustic sessions: The "Session Bar" (a
centrally located marquee hosting the main bar, session area &
meeting place), the Acoustic Cafe with a verandah & marquee
for sessions and acoustic events, the Football Club for acoustic
workshops and programmed "club" sessions - and the Willunga
Hotel (the "Middle Pub") welcomes session players.
MARKETS
& STALLS
Willunga Farmers Market—Saturday morning Stalls —Food,
art and craft, clothing & specialty stalls etc at the Festival
site.. Meals available from the Slate Hill Café, Alma Hotel,
Willunga Hotel, The Old Bush Inn, Christina's on High Street, Willunga
Bakery and other food outlets in Willunga.
CAMPING
Camping space is available on-site (Friday & Saturday) at $5
per person per night. Local sporting clubs will provide a cooked
breakfast, lunch (sandwiches) & evening meal at a reasonable
